This is about to get real up in here! Here me out, friend reading this. You are not a mistake! God doesn’t make mistakes and He made you. We make mistakes, He doesn’t. He forgives us for our mistakes, and we are more than the mistakes we make and the mistakes done to us.
Oh man have I felt (often) that my life is a mistake. Depression and self-hatered I hate to admit have been a companions in my life. I can dwell on things I don’t like about myself for way to long or things others have done to hurt me. I’ve wondered why God has made me certain ways.
I wonder why I’m so very sensitive to so many things, both emotionally and physically. I wonder why certain things in my life have happened the way they have. Why I can’t control my temper at times or have said mean things I don’t mean. I’ve wondered about so many things about the way I’m made. But you know what… I’m not perfect, and that’s ok because I know someone who is and He loves me. And that’s Jesus.
Knowing and getting closer to Jesus in my life has freed me in so many ways. I still struggle with lots of things, but when I focus my attention on the truth, it really sets me free. It’s a constant struggle to not hold onto lies from the past, but it’s a battle that I know I’m not alone in.
When I was growing up I always had a smile on my face in public and thought everyone else had their lives together. I know now that many people face these battles or other battles. I need to remind myself before comparing myself to someone or judging someone that we each have our own struggles. We are each made in the image of God. We are each not a mistake.
The temptation is to judge others harshly. Even if it’s not out loud or to others it can be in our minds. This separates us from them and makes people feel more alone. What if more times we recognized an evil or judgmental thought about ourselves or others. What if we took that thought and did something different with it? What if we reminded ourselves in that moment of weakness
That we are not a mistake. That the other person is not a mistake. That God made each person, we are not perfect and we are each in a battle. Lets help each other by speaking (and thinking) love not hate. Let bring light not darkness into each others lives.
I hear so many people being so critical about celebrities or people in the spotlight. They are people too! The harsh words are speaking against God’s creation just as much, it breaks my heart, wonder what it does to God’s? It’s not an excuse and want to practice this stopping the judgmental thoughts in our minds & words not just over bosses/co-workers/family/friends/ but also those in the spotlight. I’m saying this to myself too.
I’m not a mistake. You’re not a mistake. God doesn’t make mistakes and He made you. He is perfect, and He’ a sure foundation and rock in which to rest. He’s enough to overcome self- hatred, comparison, judgment, unforgiveness etc. because he’s the pure meaning of love.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10 NIV
Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:43-48
God’s Love and Ours
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:7-21’

John 1:1-51 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. …
