Do you think Caleb and I ever thought about throwing in the towel in our marriage? Although Caleb and I hold many of the same core values, we are extremely different. We communicate very differently and have a very different way of doing things. We grew up on opposite ends of the country, with very different experiences and upbringings. We came across some major stressors in life where we both felt defeated. Two strong willed, passionate people communicating differently isn’t always a great combo. But through conflict we kept choosing to make our marriage better and not bitter. There were several times during these very dark days that we both didn’t know if all the struggle was worth it. But we kept coming back to the truth. We weren’t/aren’t each others enemy. We are a team. Although we both aren’t perfect, our hearts and basic intentions are always to love God, each other, and others well. Although we don’t always know how to express this, and our past hurts want to come back to haunt us, we continually learn and grow. One of the most difficult seasons of our life/marriage so far was during the same time we felt God calling us to create our Cultivate Relationship class. It seemed like weird timing, but revisiting the years of work we had put into the class, my Masters program, and incorporating it into our own marriage we felt, saw and experienced a major transformation in our marriage. It is even more confirmation that our class works so tangibly and we are living proof. It was the blessing our marriage needed, and the blessing our students are getting to prep themselves for the most thriving relationship possible, or healing a marriage they are in. Caleb and I keep choosing healing from our pasts, God and each other and doing the work necessary to continually turn towards each other with full hearts of love. Experiencing deeper connection, and loving each other more everyday & we love helping others get the same results. It’s not easy, but we make it simple and effective! Do you know anyone that would be blessed by a course like this? We have a free webinar if you want to know more! Check it out here.
