When I read the words she wrote about me last week it felt like I got punched in the gut. đ€đŒI had never heard anyone make fun of my âin their opinionâ physical âflawâ before. And honestly, it sent me over the edge that day. â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â It popped up in my facebook notifications and it was cruel and others joined in. đ„ș Unfortunately I had already been struggling with comparison, and feelings of not being good enough that day. So it hit me extra hard.  I know their comments should not bother me, but words are powerful, and Iâve struggled not to notice what they said every time I look in the mirror since then. â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â Iâm sharing this vulnerable story with you, because sadly I donât think Iâm alone. đ€ŠđœââïžIt breaks my heart to see this woman in her 50âs (and many other women from this ad) say such cruel things to another woman. Any hurtful thing said to another person breaks my heart. đBut it shows me the condition of their heart. â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â When we are filled with love and peace within ourselves, thereâs not room for comparison & envy. But when we are starving for attention, affirmation, feelings of not being good enough: we will grab at anything we think will make ourselves feel better, for some; that means tearing apart someone else (even people online or on TV) đIt might temporally relieve the void they are feeling, but it leaves them more isolated & bitter. â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â I read đ Colossians 3 in my devo. time the next morning. It talks about⊠âSet your minds on things above, not on earthly thingsâŠPut to death; sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greedâŠÂ rid yourselves of: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. As Godâs chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patienceâŠforgive as the Lord forgave you.â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â I asked for this to make me and others better and not bitter. â€ïžThe temptation is to grab at envy & comparison, but letâs say no to those toxic things and hold onto the truth: each person is beautifully and wonderfully made, unique and has a purpose. What are you celebrating that I can celebrate with you?Â
