I’ve always loved flowers. My families house in Pittsburgh is directly next to an exit road that leads up a big hill to the elementary and middle school I went to. There were many wild flowers and blackberries along the walk, and in the right season I would always pick a bunch of both. I would pick the flowers for my mom and the blackberries for my dad. I would be so proud walking down the hill and hiding them behind my back before I pulled them out and surprised my beautiful Momma. She was always so full of joy when I gave her the flowers. I would get so sad when the wildflowers and cherry blossoms stopped blooming and couldn’t wait for the next season for them to bloom again.
.
It’s the same now with flowers. Every bouquet Caleb gets me fills me with so much love. But again sad when they die.
.
This scripture has me thinking today:
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
-Isaiah 40:8
.
Flowers fall. They are beautiful and lovely but only for a season. But there is something way more beautiful, that fills our hearts with more joy and love that never fails or falls. And that’s the word of God. “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” -Psalm 119:103
.
You can read the Bible and get through page after page, but what’s powerful is if you allow the Bible to get through you. To allow your heart and mind to be open up to God’s words. There are so many layers and deep hidden things that will speak life and breath to our bitter and hurt places if we allow it. Sharper than a sword, sweeter than honey, and will never fade like a flower. .
I love giving and receiving flowers, here are some for you. But more importantly is the love we give others from the love God gives us. Those flowers I gave my mom and the blackberries I gave my dad are long gone, but the love behind the gift is still there. God is love. That’s what lasts forever. . “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” -2 Corinthians 4:18
.
What do you think, love to hear from you!
