Six years ago today, we took the first step towards forever. On the beach at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach, I proposed to Stefanie asking her to be mine forever. The day was epic, I thought I’d give you a little taste of what we did. And as Julie Andrews says in The Sound of Music, “these are a few of my favorite things” and that was the theme of the day!
It all started a week before when I began to give Stefanie a Rose each night when we got done hanging out. This was because I knew stefanie loves the bachelor and I wanted to give her my rose. Each rose was attached to a note with special instructions preparing her for our engagement day. One had money for a new dress, another, instructions for the actual day, let’s just say that the anticipation was high!
It was supposed the rain on our day, and it did rain, but the Lord provided a break in the clouds over us all day. We didn’t even get a drop on us!!
To start the day, we headed out to Malibu for a hike in Solstice canyon park. It was stunning. Stefanie loves Malibu and hiking so we tried that hike and it was spectacular!
We then headed to the Getty Malibu to walk around and enjoy the artwork and beautiful property. The views are amazing and we enjoyed every minute.
We then headed to Santa Monica pier for lunch at Bubba Gumps, one of our favorite places. We had a window seat, and guess what, while we were inside, it poured all around us!
After lunch, we headed off to Costa Mesa, where I had called my aunt and uncle to use their home as a changing place for us to get into “fancy” clothes. After we got ready, we headed out towards Laguna Beach.
We parked at Crystal Cove, and walked the trails down to the beach. Not a soul in sight because of the rain throughout the day (but still none on us. I began to tell her how much she meant to me and how I loved her beyond measure. I took her to the spot where I had first told her I loved her. Nerves at an all time high, I then dropped on one knee and asked the woman of my dreams to marry me. Her reaction was priceless! She said YES! And then jumped to hug me, only to then let out one of the loudest screams I have ever heard as she saw the most beautiful rainbow 🌈 behind us shooting out to the clouds. A sign of Gods promise.
Pure joy took hold of us as we jumped, ran, and sang out for joy! We called our parents and then headed to dinner. We went to one of our favorite spots Las Brisas in Laguna for dinner. We had a window seat and a waiter that took amazing care of us!
Still on cloud nine, I said such a baller line😎. I said, Stefanie, when I’m with you, I feel like the happiest man on earth. And because I love you and you make me so happy, I want to take you to the happiest place on earth!! Yep, I had bought tickets to Disneyland for the next day. She had never been before, and she was PUMPED!
Disneyland was an amazing time, and we had so much fun together on the day and ever since. I am so happy to have made that decision and so glad that we can spend every minute together forever. February 8th was an amazing day, and each anniversary of our engagement I am more thankful than the last for my beautiful princess!
