Have you ever looking the mirror and been disgusted with whats in the reflection? Caleb here today, I can feel that way too. There have been so many times where I have looked in the mirror and have been ashamed with what I look like. This is a slippery slope and can cause an argument or frustration between the two of us. I absolutely hate the feeling of not being good enough.
Thankfully, I have two people constantly reminding me of my worth, and its still hard at times! In the world of Instagram, it can be so hard with comparison around every corner. So many people who look “perfect” to place myself against, and it seems that no matter what, in my head, I fail to reach the mark. Now you might be wondering, “Do guys really struggle with positive body image?” And my answer is a resounding yes! And I would go as far as to say that most if not all people care about it to an extent.
I might not feel the same pressures as Stefanie does, and it saddens me that she would ever not feel good enough. When she doesn’t, it completely breaks my heart and I always respond with saying that she is the most beautiful woman in the world. Sometimes its comforting, sometimes not, but eventually I know that the truth does sink in. This morning, in preparing to write this post, I came across one of my favorite set of verses in the Bible MSG version...“Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?” Luke 12:25-28 I want to encourage all of you reading this, that you are beautiful, you are enough, you are loved, and you are wonderfully made. I know that God deeply cares about you and wants the best for you. I need this reminder just as much (if not more) than anyone else. What’s your thought?
